Unequal use of individual right to accreditation of prior experience (VAE ): french candidates' paths in VAE process. Anne-Juliette Lecourt* (Laboratory of Labour Economics and Industrial Sociology-CNRS UMR 6123). The present form of education and training french system doesn't manage to give real opportunities of getting qualification. So, the VAE process has been created. This new right makes people responsible to put work experience to advantage, through getting qualification on the basis of work and individual experience, without education. But, to open up a new legal way doesn't make this right a reality. This paper, based on a statistical work on a national sample of VAE candidates, analyses inequalities in the VAE right's deployment, with regard to notion of experience. In this process, the experience is assessed in order to obtain a qualification. But the experience is dependent on many elements (persons, current and past environment, motivation, objectives...). So, the experience seems to be an essential variable about success and failure probabilities in the VAE pathway. We measure the gross effect of experience (age, years of professional activity, years in the firm) on the candidates' pathway (probability of abandonment, getting a partial or complete validation). Here, the variable is envisaged as resource. Then, we measure the gross effect of experience, crossed with others variables which are potentially constitutive of experience too or in interaction with it. The work's originality consist in highlighting existence of different types of individual logics of choice, which means different real possibilities of actions, more or less constricted by conversions resources (gross and combined effects of experience). That is confirmed by an systematically observation of deliberate or suffered nature of choices during the VAE pathway.
