OEUVRE, DOCUMENTATION ET ARCHIVE AU REGARD DE LA DANSE : QUELLES HYBRIDATIONS ?

We analyse how professional documentary practice contributes to a living and creative memory of dance. We discuss the consequences of this practice on the concepts of document, documentation and archive. Our inquiry is based on the “Arc_Danse” project directed by the video artist Mario Côté at the University of Quebec at Montréal. An artistic event constitutes a virtual primary document when it becomes a source of information for a receiver and when it manifests itself in a “secondary documentary device”. In addition, a secondary document is an archive provided that it reflects the primary document and is useful for a creative activity, which requires the development of a “tertiary documentary device” of a communicative nature.

L’auteur de cet article élabore un cadre réflexif à partir de la conception de la documentation comme dispositif info-communicationnel afin de contribuer à interroger les hybridations entre oeuvre, documentation et archive. Ce questionnement s’effectue à partir des pratiques de la documentation en lien avec la mémorisation et la transmission de la danse. Il s’appuie principalement sur l’étude du projet Arc_Danse dirigé par l’artiste Mario Côté dans le cadre de ses recherches-créations au laboratoire Hexagram de l’Université du Québec à Montréal. Il en résulte un redéploiement théorique de ces trois notions.
