Chercher des informations dans un hypertexte : quels liens avec les compétences initiales chez les jeunes apprenants ?

Jérôme Dinet
Abstract : In an experiment conducted with learners recruited in Grade 5, we investigated the relationships between some cognitive abilities and their search performance in a hypertext system. Three standardised tests were used to assess several cognitive abilities: the WISC-III (Weschler, 1991), a non verbal span test (Siegel & Ryan, 1989) and a reading span test called “la pipe et le rat” (Lefavrais, 1989). Three results, partially similar to those obtained with adolescents or adults, were obtained: (1) verbal abilities are related to some search performance indicators; (2) non verbal abilities are not related to these search performance indicators; (3) learners in Grade 5 can learn by searching for information in a hypertext system. Finally, some limitations are discussed.
