Rechercher des documents avec l'ordinateur à l'école : quand les élèves oublient le thème de la recherche

Abstract : In this paper, we investigate the difficulties of young learners (Grade 5) when they search for information with computers, from a cognitive psychology point of view. A first experiment shows that on the one hand, young learners “forget” their search topic and the instructions by inhibition of concepts stored in memory and on the other hand, some environmental characteristics can increase this lapse of memory. A second experiment confirms these results and shows that children' performances increase when the search topic and the instruction are explicitly reinstalled in memory. Finally, some pedagogical implications are discussed.
