Un site web pour l'enseignement inter-disciplinaire des Mathématiques en Biologie

Abstract : In September 2001 the university of Lyon, Claude Bernard, started an experiment with part of the Biology BA students. These students can benefit from an innovative pedagogy incorporating Web-based teaching and learning. They are taught Calculus and Statistics by our teaching team with an emphasis on Mathematics and Biology interdisciplinary. We designed a progressive learning programme developing knowledge (lectures, group tutoring) and competences (problem sessions) based on a Web site ( that includes a weekly agenda, space for teachers/students dialogue, self-evaluation tools, problems and solutions, sample exams, all the course chapters... The Web site allows assessing the pedagogical path followed by individuals or groups of students. Here we present our teaching approach, and the reason why we chose to rely on Web technologies. Sounding students, we are able to analyse the advantages of our approach both on the students and the teachers points of view.
