Une approche de la notion de limite dans un environnement basé sur un système de calcul formel

Abstract : In this paper, we present the environment LIMITES based on the Computer Algebra System MuPAd. This environment allows the student to discover the concept of limit, an important one of the calculus domain. In this framework, expressions are considered with a validity domain, unlike the algebra domain, where expressions are defined all over the real numbers. LIMITES provides he student with facilities to apply proofs on limits and to transform expressions. Conjectures are also possible with the help of graphical and numerical tools. We present an example of a student interaction which shows the interest of LIMITES. The Computer Algebra System allowed to easily implement the necessary knowledge base in this field whose methods are not exclusively algorithmic ones.
