La recherche d'informations sur internet par des lycéens

Abstract : Training in web-based information seeking raises questions about usability of general search tools available for end users and induces the study of specific solutions. The purpose of our project is to analyse how students make use of web search tools and to design specific additional help tools. The analysis of web searching behaviour of high school students shows that they enjoy this activity and that they are able to find information they consider relevant. But they encounter real difficulties in expressing efficient queries and dealing with the results of their queries. We present two help tools : a history mechanism, built on an analysis of main navigation events, and a tool that allows extraction and organization of fragments.
