Atouts, limites et exploitations potentielles du choix fourni dans les logiciels de langue

Abstract : This study is motivated by two observations. Firstly, activities proposed by language learning software are primarily limited to multiple choice exercises. Secondly, what little literature that does address such exercises dates back to the 70's and the 80's, an era since when the domain of language teaching and learning has considerably evolved, multimedia tools being particularly given more and more importance. This study questions the theoretical basis behind their conception and application in existing language learning software.
In order to address our research objective, we established a corpus comprising eight different language software packages. This corpus allowed us to establish a panorama of the type of exercises used in current language learning software. We also put forward a nine-point guide that may orientate the conception and future language software programs.
