Pertinence d'une approche culturelle appuyée sur Internet dans une grande école

Abstract : This research focuses on the cultural difficulties of exchange students at the École des Ponts ParisTech. We designed and implemented a module helping international learners adapt to the cultural particularities of the school's French community. We present some thematic modules focusing on several key points: choice of topics, tasks, instructions to follow, selecting sources and resources and different types of guidance. We worked from non pedagogical websites with a cultural content. Our supervised on-line search activities require initiative, and analytical and critical abilities. Our guidance is minimal, non-directive and the activities are flexible. We will examine how students have responded and become involved in the tasks and show that our rationale is adequate and can be extended to other languages.
